About me - Biography

Portrait: Tom Harkins

I am an outdoor enthusiast with a passion for capturing beautiful images. I have a degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering and have spent a career specializing in programming and computer graphics.

I have been enjoying photography for over 20 years.   I started out trying to capture childhood memories and the world around me on 110 film.  But, it was during high school that I discovered my true love for this medium.  I worked for four years on the editorial staff of my school's yearbook, spending my Senior year as the Editor-in-Chief of our annual publication.  Through this experience, I was able to begin developing my skills in Sports, Event, Portrait, and Candid Photography.  In the two decades since, I have continued to improve my shooting and have added Wildlife, Nature Scenery, and Travel Destinations to my list of picture making subjects.

With the evolution of digital cameras came the opportunity to combine my background in Computer Engineering with my artistic interests in photography.  When I started shooting on digital equipment 9+ years ago, I fell in love with the new technology and haven't looked back since.

I take whatever opportunity presents itself, whether it be a business trip, a family vacation, a pre-sunrise venture out, or a simple drive to work, to capture more images.  I also enjoy participating in workshops to learn new techniques, see things in new ways, meet other photographers, or to simply brush up on the "basics".
